Wyoming native Kema Jamal began dancing at age four. At age 14 years she successfully auditioned with the Wyoming Wildcatters cheerleading squad . That year she also took home the title of Young Miss of America, at Universal studios, Hollywood. In 1990, she moved to San Diego, CA. and attended both San Diego State and Mira Costa college with Dance as her major.
In 1995, Ms. Jamal trained with Katherine Dunham at the University of
Southern Illinois and successfully auditioned with Alvin Ailey Dance Center in 1997, under Denise Jefferson. She studied and performed with several underground hip- hop companies, gaining surmountable knowledge in urban funk.
In July of 1999, as a principal dancer, Ms. Jamal performed with Rose-Marie Guiraud, the pioneering choreographer and Anthropologist of Cote d' Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Africa's dance school and cultural exchange company, Les Guirivoires. More recently she taught advanced classes at the University of Northern Colorado's Dance Department .
Ms. Jamal most recent project has been the collaboration of dialogue,
music and dance, with renowned Blues Guitarist/Composer and Producer James Blood Ulmer. Their most recent performance has been at the Media wave festival in Gyor, Hungary.
Ms. Jamal also performs with her own Band, this gives her the freedom to take her creativity to a different level. She has been a recent guest on the Brooklyn Cable show "Just Between Us" in March, 2001. - Sharing the concept.
Fundraising is a true passion in Ms. Jamal's world. She has done work for many causes, some to include The Boys and Girls Club, R.A.W.A. (The Revolutionary association Women of Afghanistan) and The Children's Relief Fund.
Ms Kema Jamal has worked throughout Wyoming's private and public schools some to include:

Teaching and Fundraising is her true passion. She has done work for many causes, some to include The Boys and Girls Club of America, R.A.W.A ( Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan) and the Children's Relief fund at the United Nations. She has instructed at the University Of Northern Colorado, Casper College among others . Ms. Jamal's belief is "Art comes from love of self."
DDM is a blend of Ms. Jamal's spoken words with dance. It is accompanied by harmonic background singers and the New Material, a world class Band with a Jazz undertone. DDM has been showcased at concerts with great success. Ms. Jamal, tantalized audiences with electrifying performances of DDM spanning from the New York City underground circuit to Global cause oriented events, which included the United Nations.
